Giraffe Manor
An exclusive boutique hotel in the Langata suburb of Nairobi, famous for its resident herd of Nubian giraffe who visit morning and evening.
Settle into Giraffe Manor
Giraffe Manor is one of Nairobi's most iconic buildings and one of the most unforgettable places to stay in the world. Owned by The Safari Collection, the historic manor house was built in 1932 and modelled on a Scottish hunting lodge, set in 12 acres of private land within 140 acres of indigenous forest in the Langata suburb. Its most fascinating feature is a resident herd of endangered Nubian (Rothschild's) giraffe who may visit morning and evening, poking their long necks through the windows in the hope of a treat before retreating to their forest sanctuary. With its stately facade, elegant interiors, verdant gardens and delightful courtyards, guests often remark that it is like walking into the film 'Out of Africa'. Giraffe Manor has long been part of a breeding programme that has successfully grown Nubian giraffe numbers in the wild.
