Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge

Historic volcanic-stone safari lodge overlooking a floodlit waterhole in Tsavo West National Park, framed by Mount Kilimanjaro and the Chyulu Hills, with 56 rooms including five suites.

The stay

Settle into Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge

Built from local volcanic stone and resting beneath the green slopes of the Chyulu Hills, Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge was one of the first lodges in Kenya's national parks and remains a timeless base for exploring Tsavo West National Park. At the heart of the lodge lies a floodlit waterhole, an ever-changing scene where elephants, giraffes and other wildlife gather, linger and return, with the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro rising in the distance. The 56 guest rooms, including five suites, are constructed from volcanic stone and wood and spread across three wings: a two-storey block facing the waterhole, a cluster of stone cottages, and a private suite enclave. All rooms showcase uninterrupted views of the waterhole and rolling Chyulu Hills, with private balconies, high-speed internet and locally inspired interiors. The central dining room and open-air, stone-built bar open onto a terrace above the waterhole, and signature experiences include bush breakfasts and sundowners on Lion Rock, a volcanic outcrop once favoured by the man-eating lions of Tsavo. Guests can enjoy a swimming pool, Maisha Spa treatments, bike riding and excursions to Mzima Springs and the Shetani lava flows. Kilaguni is the first fully solar-powered lodge in the Serena Hotels portfolio.
