Newly built in 2025-26 and opened in June 2026, Kitirua Plains Lodge is one of A&K Sanctuary's most architecturally arresting properties, conceived to meld unobtrusively with its Amboseli setting rather than merely mimic it. Curved walls and fluid rooflines echo the undulating terrain, and the exterior plaster is blended with soil from the site for harmony in texture and colour, while Maasai-style screens allow passive ventilation. Set on a 128-acre private concession of sweeping savannah and wetlands on the edge of Amboseli National Park at the Kenya-Tanzania border, the lodge enjoys constant views of Mount Kilimanjaro and sits in one of the great elephant habitats of East Africa. Ninety per cent of the furniture was made in Kenya and the entirely solar-powered lodge draws water from an on-site borehole. A wellness area with spa treatment rooms, an outdoor yoga deck and gym, plus a pool set within existing wetland, deliver pampering downtime between game drives.
