Laba Mama Simba opened on 1 June 2025 as Laba Laba's stopover property near Arusha, just 35 minutes from Kilimanjaro International Airport and about an hour from Arusha Airport, with its own private airstrip 10 minutes from the lodge. It sits in the heart of North Dolly, a 700-hectare unfenced private conservancy where Cape eland, impala, zebra, wildebeest, kudu, and Thomson's and Grant's gazelle roam freely, allowing guests to take a guided walking safari with a Maasai guide directly from the lodge. The property comprises six Garden Cottages, a Master Suite, a Garden Room and a Pool Room, with a gym, a large swimming pool, and sweeping views of Mount Meru. The lodge is named for Vicky de Cervera (1938-2015), a Spanish writer-traveller who settled in Arusha and was affectionately known locally as "Mama Simba" (Mama Lion) for her connection to animals and nature; the lodge closes annually from 15 March to 1 June.
