Lemala Osonjoi Lodge is the latest addition to the Lemala portfolio, located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and named for the Osonjoi trees that characterize the area and hold symbolic and medicinal significance for the Maasai. It sits on a hill just back from the Crater rim's eastern quadrant, which sees fewer visitors than the west, and is conveniently close to the Lemala Gate, a more gradual access road with game viewing en route. Game drives from the lodge can start as early as 6:00am, putting guests on the crater floor within 10-15 minutes for the best early light and wildlife activity, and escorted walks into the forest and along the crater rim are available with an armed ranger and Maasai guide. The lodge has 20 guest suites (16 standard suites and 2 two-bedroom suites), a double-volume main area with lounge and bar, an outdoor viewing deck with fire, an indoor heated swimming pool, and a separate spa suite among the trees.
