Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge is one of the oldest family-owned and -managed lodges in East Africa, adapted from a German colonial farmhouse built in 1905 and run by the Leach family since the 1970s (Mike, then Gisella, then Tim Leach). Set in lush gardens across 50 acres of forest and crystal-clear lakes on the slopes of Mount Meru, it offers 10 Garden Rooms, 2 Main House Suites, a Kilimanjaro Summit Suite and a 3-bedroom Farm Cottage. The lodge is around 30 minutes from Kilimanjaro International Airport and Arusha town, making it a popular pre/post-safari base in northern Tanzania.
