Kambi ya Tembo

Adventure tented camp on a 600 sq km private Sinya concession on Kilimanjaro's north face, famed for giant tusker bull elephants and Maasai cultural immersion.

The stay

Settle into Kambi ya Tembo

Kambi ya Tembo is a spectacular tented camp situated on the north face of Kilimanjaro, with sweeping views across the Amboseli plains and the mountain itself. The camp sits within Sinya, a 600 square kilometre private concession offering incomparable scenery of Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru, and the Ol Doinyo Longido and Ol Doinyo Orok peaks — and is one of the only places in Africa where visitors can observe large bull elephants over 50 years old with enormous tusks in the front line. Traditional Maasai bomas are scattered around Sinya, where the Maasai continue to live in their customary way, less accustomed to tourists than in more visited areas. The ground-level main building offers views of the Amboseli plains and Kilimanjaro, with an indoor-outdoor dining room and evening appetizers and drinks served around the camp fire.
