Sand Rivers
A light-filled lodge almost moored on the banks of the Rufiji River in Nyerere National Park, open-fronted to the water with a legacy of pioneering foot safaris.
Settle into Sand Rivers
Sand Rivers is Nomad Tanzania's flagship lodge in Nyerere National Park, built directly on the banks of the mile-wide Rufiji River, with one side entirely open to the water. Originally sited by safari pioneer Richard Bonham some 20 years ago, the lodge pioneered foot safaris in the area and remains a base for walking, boating and game drives along the river. Accommodation comprises 5 open-fronted riverside cottages plus 3 hillside suites with private plunge pools, all en-suite. Open June to February, minimum guest age 8.
